Not one of her best November 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I expected much, much more from the fabulous Martina but sadly this one let me down! I have been an avid fan of hers from the start. I found that I couldn't sympathise with most of the characters as I simply didn't like them!!! Let's hope Martina's next book will return in the same vein as her originals! On a brighter note i have just discovered a new author J Lou McCartney who wrote De Marco Empire - full of mafia style villains and edge of the seat stuff ...
Don't waste your money November 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Even at Amazon's cut price this is a complete waste of money. Hugely over-egged and repetitive. What was the editor doing for their fee? The plot is predictable and the characters two dimentional. Extended use of East End gangster slang and swearing does not necessarily mean that the novel is "realistic". It is a pity that some novellists merely rely upon their reputation. Martina Cole is as much a con artist as Imelda in the novel.
dissapointed, again November 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After Faces i promised myself that i wouldnt by Another Martina Cole book- but thought i would give her the benefit of the doubt. BIG MISTAKE - this so dissapointing, there was way too much descripton of the characters thoughts there was no dialogue at all. as ususal she kept repeating the same thing over and over - "literally", "the abortion that was her life", olympian standards"all this was used to describe everything in this bloody book!!! How can we believe the storyline the plot was soo stupid. This is it I definately will not be buying another one of her books if this is how downhill she is going. I think she's spending too much time on her stupid TV show.
MARTINA COLE THE BUSINESS November 11, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
So disappointing, I'm a real fan of Martina Cole, but like faces last year this book was just as bad if not worse. Imelda Dooley's name was constantly repeated over and over and what an abortion her life was, a story that was just so unbelievable, definitely not her usual books that grip you from start to finish.
Come on Martina gives us a book like your old ones.
Soooo Disappointed November 10, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I was really looking forward to this book, but was extremely disappointed. Everyone I know who has read it feels the same. Don't think I will be rushing out to buy her next book.
