Another Good One November 12, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
You have to hand it to Bill Jellen, he knows his onions when it comes to Excel. I got into his offerings through his podcast, but I have since bought 3 of his books from Amazon. This is up to the usual informative standard, but seems to be better laid out than previous books with a scenario and solution theme about it. A bit too much mention of Excel 2007 for me, but I have a Mac and we are stuck at Excel 2004 at the moment, so it's probably just sour grapes! If you have an Excel issue chances are that Mr Jellen will have a solution for you and this book will be one that will offer you many ways of getting things done quicker than you have in the past. Just don't look back over your old formulas after reading this book. It will just make you wince with shame at what you were producing before Jellen!
Learn some useful tips and techniques November 8, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I would have said that this is not a book for beginners but for those who are already comfortable with Excel and want to be able to find their way around spreadsheets containing a large amount of data, it offers a number of useful tips and techniques.
Having said that, beginners who are prepared to work through the book and try some of the examples for themselves, will undoubtedly find it rewarding.
The book covers many of the tools and functions that would be used to analyse or extract data and even the most experienced Excel users are likely to find something that they did not already know.
The book also offers an insight into what is to come in Excel 2007 with the examples covering Excel 97 through to Excel 2007.
