Wow! Amazing! December 27, 2008 I have read several of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter novels and since the first I read I have been desperately waiting for the story on Ash and it has been so worth the wait. I can honestly say this has been the best novel I have ever read and it brought me to tears. This book has been written so well and I was struggling between continually reading and trying to pace my reading as I knew I would get to the end soon and didn't want to!
Thank you so much Sherri for a truly amazing and masterpeice of a book, you never let your fans down :-)
Amazing!! December 24, 2008 There are two parts to this book and the first part is heartbreaking. I found myself wanting to cry at the pain that Acheron had to endure. I couldn't believe the sheer horror he had to put up with and how evil people were to him. I kept thinking 'What has he ever done to you?' The fact that Styxx, who was horrible and selfish and didn't care about anyone but himself, was the one who was treated like a king really annoyed me. It should have been Acheron. Yet, I would probably have said the same thing if it was the opposite way round. The only person who really loved Acheron in the first part was his sister Ryssa, whos diaries entries we read at the beginning. Even Artemis treats him like he is nothing. The second part is the present day in which we are introduced to Tory. The chemistry between Acheron (Ash) and Tory is amazing which makes it an incredible love story. Acheron learns to trust someone and he finally gets the life he deserves. I loved this book so much and it really does release all your emotions. You feel sad, upset, happy and you even laugh out loud. With all the old characters like Simi, Artemis and most of the darkhunters, it leaves you totally fulfilled when you finish reading it. It also tells you that Artemis really is a b!tch. So overall, this is a must read.
waited and waited and worth it. December 12, 2008 This was The book we were all waiting for....Oh it was really good. Now we all know who Ash is and why.. Buy it and love it.
Very VERY disappointing November 20, 2008 Finally, the story of Acheron. After the long wait, I am left feeling cheated and very disappointed. The first section of the which details how Acheron came to be is raw and gritty, heart rending in places, and quite contrived in others. Despite the never ending chain of horrific and brutal events of his early life, I read on, hoping that the second section would see the emergence of the Ash I'd glimpsed and become fascinated by in the earlier novels. Was I ever wrong! Instead, he seems more like an ill developed character than true hero. The fact that he has endured so much is testimony to his strength and power - a fact that is rarely reflected in the last chapters. This I feel is as a result of Kenyon concentrating more on section one and just tossing words together in section two. This was the story I was waiting for, and I feel cheated that it did not deliver. Acheron's relationship with Soteria lacked substance and believability, which is quite sad considering they are critical characters. This is Acheron, for crying out loud, the most powerful of them all! Where is the intricacy and substance of his story?
loved it!! October 26, 2008 Can't really add anything to the other reviews - if you have read the others in the dark hunter series - then you have already read this one!
If not - why on earth not?
Downside - it ended!
Can't wait for the next one and please, please please - when do we get Nick's story???
