    5 out of 5 stars Glad I said yes!   January 1, 2009
I had not heard of this book till a few months ago. Then a friend recommended it to me. Thought it sounded like an intriguing idea, so I nipped out to the bookshop to pick myself up a copy. Simply, could not put the book down till I had finished it. It just drew me in from start to finish. Absolutely loved it. It was laugh out loud funny, (I had to try not to laugh too much on the bus) at times it also made me cringe when Danny was in certain situations. I was sitting there reading and thinking please just say no this time...just this once! I also found it quite thought provoking, and it made me think about the times where I just dismiss things straight away and say no. I know several people who have read this book after I recommended it to them, and they all loved it. One in particular who decided to say yes and do something he had been putting off for so long. Simply put, I am glad I said yes to this book.

    5 out of 5 stars Stunning   December 31, 2008
One of my favourite books of all time, I'm dumbfounded, to say the least, at the 6 people who have rated it one star. I read it in a single day and have since re-read it about 6 times, one of the funniest books I have ever read.

It really is a shame that whoever adapted it for screen didn't do it justice.

Buy the book and I promise you that you won't regret it.

    did I enjoy this book?............YES!!!!!
I recommend this book to everyone dead or alive - it will change your outlook on life....erm or death, if you are already dead! - don't just read it once, read it whenever your life needs a boost and who knows, you just may find yourself poking a monk or winning 25,0000! who knows what is round the corner!
Can't wait to see the film although I do wish it was Danny starring in it rather Jim Carey!!
My name is Cat, I should wear glasses and I have a 3 legged kitten!

    ENJOY YOUR YESES!!!!

Well here's one of those books that could change the world, were enough people to read it and embrace its simple philosophy of saying "yes" to whatever life presents them and going after treats like some tongue-hanging cute and lovable dog. Danny's an innocent - gullible, even - and I guess that's why he succeeds, because he perseveres where the more sensible of us would fail. But, to prove the point, he's the one that ends up happily married and on TV - and if that's not enough to make people want to say "yes" more I don't know what is. Certainly it's got me inspired - I just hope the inspiration lasts longer than the few hours it usually does after whatever life-affirming movie/book I've just digested. But God bless Danny Wallace for being out there and doing it for us!

On the negative side, he does like to milk his gullibility, and all that stuff with the Nigerian fraudsters is so painfully drawn out when it's plain to see he knows exactly what's going on all along and is just doing it for comic effect. Thing is, there's more than enough comedy in the book than to have to resort to manufacturing it - yes, it is 'laugh out loud' funny in many places - so I'd hate to see its message diminished by these Michael Moore-ish contrivances. Take the bit where he blacks out and loses his specs, for instance: Danny tells us he's fallen asleep "fully clothed" (because that's funnier than getting undressed and going to bed) but then he twice tells us he's a man looking for his glasses in his underpants (because that's funnier that way also).

Still, it's bloody good - and has no doubt improved the lives of all that have read it and understood. Which is no mean feat. Just say "yes". But don't take drugs and sleep with people you don't want to. He's more Buddhist than he knows.

Its very easy to say yes to everything when your backed up by an over inflated BBC salary, not funny, a couple of amusing situations, on the dance floor and waiting for the ferry in singapore. If id noticed that Davina Macall had said this man was a genius on the front cover I wouldn`t have purchased it(as she normally presents shows for those of an IQ lower than one). Its a poor read about an overpaid self pitying individual.

As much as I didnt like this book the underlying theme is really interesting and the Maitraya idea is genuinely thought inducing.

Wait for it to turn up at a car boot sale, dont buy it.
