5 out of 5 stars Excellent! This is a 'must have' book for VBA programming.   August 22, 2001

I had previously written in BASIC and dabbled in VBA but this book opened my eyes to the power of VBA. My mission was to write a macro that transferred data from Word to Excel with a UserForm for data validation.....3 days thanks to Julitta.

The books style is very good and although it was very tempting to skip over the earlier sections I learned a lot about basic (no pun intended) VBA commands.

The author takes you through introductory and on to intermediate topics very smoothly making the learning curve a little shallower.

If you are new to VBA then just buy this book.....

I am awaiting Julitta's Word 2000 VBA book with bated breath.

5 out of 5 stars Very comprehensive book   August 29, 2000

Microsoft Excel VBA 2000 Programming is a very comprehensive book that is both a useful resource for the novice and Expert. No programming skills are involved although some necessary knowledge of Excel is required. As I had some knowledge about VBA I attempted to just read the first two chapters, since the examples were common sense about the VBE (Visual Basic Editor) environment. Yet, I found that the later chapters incorporated the previous macros and thus I would recommend the novice to do all the examples and save them to be used later on.

The companion CD-ROM contains a list of examples of VBA, however these are only the final outcomes of the various chapters. The experienced programmer may decide to skip straight to Chapter 4 and use the cd examples, which is where the programming really starts.

As one would expect, the book covers the basic aspects such as : sub-routines/functions; repeating actions; managing lists and tables; to the more advanced manipulating files and folders; controlling other applications and creating dialogue boxes and custom forms.

Summary: A very in depth book, covering virtually all the details of VBA allowing the user (both novice and expert) to develop very good macros to suit their needs. Well worth buying it.
