A useful book with a lot of examples April 22, 1999 This book is clearly not for the beginners, as implied in the title - a guide. It is however useful both for the intermediate and the advanced. Style and organisation are somewhat debatable but once they are grasped, it is near- joy to press on with the chapters. In conclusion, it could have been better laid-out.
Not a book for someone new to VBA February 3, 1999 We are using this book for a college course and with all the typos it is very hard for someone new to VBA to learn. You trust the Experts to be correct and therefore when someone is trying to learn, they think they just don't "get it" when it may really be just the typos. Chapter 5 is a very important chapter, but it is very frustrating and hard to comprehend with so many errors. I agree the book must have been rushed to Press. Hope a revision is published, as a good VBA book is still needed and if anyone can do it Peter Norton can!
Alot of stuff but vary thin in some areas June 4, 1998 A large range of topics were covered from VBA techniques to multiuser security but many things mentioned in the book weren't given enough time. A more indepth look on many instances would have made it more informative. Trying to say too much can make you say too little.
Be careful April 15, 1998 Be careful when you buy this book. It has excellent references to some of the most common tasks for Access 97 VBA. However, as I have found in other books on this subject, the publisher seems to have rushed this to the shelf. There are some typo errors on some of the examples that would cause problems with using the code. Aside from that, this book has answers to the most common problems in Access database usage.
