The book to take to a Desert Island with you. September 22, 2000 I started with Access 95 Developer's Handbook, as a real beginner. I upgraded to Access 97 and this book was top of my list of "must haves". I now write fairly complex database applications, based largely on what I have learned through these 2 books. Things that I did not understand when I first read them become clearer as the months go by and I learn more about Access and its possibilities. The next step is Access 2000 - and yes, the relevant handbook in this series will be top of my list of "must haves".
If you think you know Access, get this book ! April 25, 2000 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After developing in Access since version 2, I needed a book that would tell me a little bit more than just shortcuts. After reading just the section on Replication I knew that this book had much more to offer than just hints and tips. I would recommend any Access 97 programmer to buy it, just to see some quicker ways of doing certain tasks, and to gain much better knowledge than any Microsoft book has to offer.Get It NOW !
Outstanding November 7, 1999 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I came to Access 97 and VBA about nine months ago, albeit with several years experience of other programming languages. It soon became obvious that I needed some reference material. I bought this book and its companion (VBA Developer's Handbook) on the strengh of the reviews here and I have absolutely delighted with the result. Both of them paid back their cost in saved time in just one day in resolving several problems that I had in an application I was writing. What I particularly like is that the books are so well structured and focused on practical issues and resolutions as well as explaining the detailed technical issues. Additionally both books really do complement each other. Access 97 has been my meat and drink now for about six months and I refer to these books on a daily basis. By the way, other books worth getting: Access 97 Power Programming (NOT a starter book but you may find you come to it over time) Access 97 Expert Solutions ( the chapter on bulletproofing applications is worth the cost of admission alone).
Excellent Choice! November 5, 1999 This book is a must-have for anyone who knows how to develop MS Access 97 applications, but wants to know how to make their production more slick. The accompanying CD is filled with handy hints and utilities. Buy this book now, and you'll find yourself going back to it time and time again
Another Reader from the UK who can read October 26, 1999 This book along with it's companion the VBA developers handbook is essential if you want to develop solid Access systems. Another excellent book is Access Power Programming. A good set to get.
