After readomg sp,e reviews on many books about Access I wanted a book that didnt treat me like a "dummy" and this book certainly devlivers.I am an intermediate user of ACCESS 2000 and wanted a book that i could use aa reference in the workplace, and already have gained some insight into speeding things up, as well as finally grasping the hows and whys it does things.
This book is certainly not a "how to use Access" as the majority of the book is hard coding, more in VBA and SQL which was ideal for me becuase i wanted to have complete control on things.
If you are after a "how do i do this in ACCESS" kind of book this is not really for you. However if you are a professional and want to learn some new things to help you develop your own solutions this book is ideal. The level of detail is astounding.
In all honestly when this book arrived i spent 20 mins skimming through and though "oh my God" and didnt touch it again for 3 days. However as teh title suggests, it is a Desktop Edition and sure enough come the time 3 days later when I wanted to do something at work, i looked it up in the index and hey presto there was something for me - and all I had to do is look!!
Fantastic book, though like i said alot of the code you will have to be able to understand so it might be worth investing in a VBA book of somesort.
Excellent for hardcore developers, not for people who no nothing or dont quite know VBA/SQL statements.
