At first this game was really exciting but i found the questions to easy and not at all trivial. But i found it quite educational and interesting.
i am the right age to play this game seen as im 11.
I think Carmen Sandiegos Maths Detective was more educational and fun for children between the age of 8-12.
I think i would have found where in time is Carmen Sandiego more fun if i was between the ages of 7-9.

4 out of 5 stars Sometimes frustrating, but improves on other Carmen titles   April 11, 2002

This is quite different from "Where in the World is CS?" or the (very old) "Where in Europe ...?" Instead of chasing Carmen's gang by questioning witnesses who give away clues about hair colour, clothes and so forth, this game requires you to solve puzzles, pick up found objects and give them to people or use them to achieve tasks.

I found this more engaging than the usual Carmen game play. You can still question witnesses (Queen Hapshetsut in Ancient Egypt, Julius Caesar, Leif Ericssohn the Viking, etc.), and you're compelled to ask them questions about the period in history that you're in, before you can ask questions like "Where did the thief go?" So you pick up interesting snippets of history as you go, and your tasks reflect the time that you find yourself in (in Egypt you have to get the appropriate ingredients to mummify a dead Pharaoh, and in Rome you have to replumb the water and sewage system -- all fun).

Characters also speak to you spontaneously, and that's the only problem: if you enter the same location several times during your quest, you get the same spiel from the person stood there, and there's no way to skip this. This can be rather frustrating, but fortunately, unlike earlier Carmen games you are not racing against the clock to catch the thief, so at least it doesn't disadvantage you.
