Very disappointing August 20, 2008 I've been looking for a media manager for my PSP for some time but had heard that some third party efforts are temperamental at best - I trusted this one from Sony would be different..... I was wrong. The programme freezes all the time which soon gets frustrating and is surprisingly limited in what it can do. Yes it can convert music and video among other things but what it can't do is perform a proper search in your computer for files, so if it's not located in My Music or My Videos it won't be picked up by the media manager. It also has trouble picking up some media types, including some WMV files which it should have no problems with. It's not an overly complex piece of software and has simple menus but this is still a huge disappointment what with its noticeable and often frustrating limitations.
A simple way to convert various files for use on the PSP. August 19, 2008 This program is simple to install and even easier to use. I have no patience when it comes to computers and if I can't learn something in five minutes I get very frustrated. Thankfully this is a breeze to use and will convert your music and video files to use on your PSP in no time at all. I found it far easier to use a memory card reader to transfer files rather than connecting the PSP to the computer. The only downside is that now I've converted loads of stuff I need a bigger memory card and the 8 GB ones aren't cheap!!
Effective software at a good price August 17, 2008 Even at its full price of 10 this software is good value and at Amazon prices it's well worth the small investment. It allows you to easily move, and format correctly, multimedia format materials from your PC to PSP. While it is possible to do this using free software that is cumbersome and this is easy one-stop-shop software. You should note that to make full use of the multimedia capabilities of the PSP you'll need a large Memory Stick. These are now very cheap indeed. You'll also need a USB Memory Card reader, assuming your don't have a Sony VAIO which will come this this built in, or a specific USB to PSP cable.
For the price and ease of use, once you're clear of the additional hardware you'll need, this product works well.
Works better than I expected August 14, 2008 First and foremost Sony does not let me down again. This is an excellent addition to the PSP, and is essential if you want to easily trasfer multimedia to your device.
For starters you require a usb cable to transfer items to your device. Once you have this (It is not included) you can easily trasfer photos, music, videos, game saves, internet bookmarks etc...to and from the PSP in a few clicks. These will be stored either on the PSP memory, or the memory stick inside you PSP. It's your choice.
Sure you can do all this without Sony's Media manager. Yes you can, but it's not as tidy an experience as this. Here there is the feeling that everything is transferred to the right place under the right folders and is guaranteed to work. The first MP4 movie I tried to transfer manually would not play or be detected by the PSP. I'm not sure if that's because I named it incorrectly or placed it in the wrong folder. However passing the task to the Media manager was success first time.
The interface is clean and uncluttered as to be expected from Sony. I haven't tried transfering gave saves, or backing up my settings, but I imagine it will be as easy and smooth as the other features used.
Whilst unessential for the experienced user, for transferring videos, I've found it saves me time and makes life that bit easier.
A super & versatile little program August 13, 2008 The Sony Media manager pro is a fast and easy to use programme. Installation is swift, and unproblematic. The program itself is easy to use with the choice of either drag and drop, or simply click the file and the upload arrow.
~Uploading Photos~ The program goes straight to your pictures folder, you can easily drag and drop straight to your psp memory card. ~Uploading Music files and various media~ The media manager will find music files automatically and easily, so they are readily avaliable for you to choose, and add with ease to your psp. Also I found editing files and playlists within the psp memory card a breeze to use.
~Saved Data~ You can erase saved game files in this area, it helps you find and see duplicate files too, easy yet again to delete. ~Bookmarks~ If like me you use your PSP to go online, here the media manager automatically find any bookmarks on your computer, and you can add them to your memory card for use on your psp browser.
There is also a settings menu, where you can edit all setting within your PSP, this is a useful tool instead of cycling through the menus actually on your psp. I found the media manager a lot faster to use than the PSP menus. If you have a sony Vaio, this programme isn't nessersarily needed, but for the price Amazon are selling it for, it's a cheap and better alternative. I highly recommend this programme for PSP users, who like to quickly change music, pictures and videos on the memory card.
