3 out of 5 stars warning about using MSN Passport with Money2004   July 30, 2004

If you buy this software don't be gulled into signing up to a Microsoft Passport account (an invitation you receive everytime you start Money up). In the UK, Microsoft's 'Passport'does not allow the advertised web access to your money files, and it may just lock you out of your files completely. I am still waiting (after 2 days) for the MSN helpline to get back to me over Money2004's sudden refusal to recognise my Passport sign-in ID. My most heavily used file is solidly locked and I cannot get in to it. I have since discovered that there are huge security issues with Passport and I am regretting ever signing up to the silly thing.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic - better than Quicken   April 26, 2004

I've used Quicken for many years and although I was happy with it, Ithought it was about time I tried out Money to see how it compared. Wow,what can I say? Inputting the information is easy and logical but it isthe reports that push it over the edge. They are far easier to prepareand hence much more useful. I agree with some of the other comments thatit is a shame that all UK banks do not support downloading informationinto Money (or Quicken) but that is not a reason not to buy it. I suggestusers contact their banks and tell them they want the funcationality! Idefinitely recommend buying this product.

3 out of 5 stars Too hard to use in the UK   April 19, 2004

This is a very complex program that could really make organising your financial affairs a lot more structured, IF ONLY UK banks (or atleast the ones I'm aware of) provided better support for it. One of my banks could provide transactions that had to be manually downloaded, imported and sorted, whilst my other bank wasn't up to even doing that.

Pity they haven't managed to provided automated importing!

    I've just sold my copy.

That said, it gets a three stars for trying and for the included tax reporting tool.

The basic version, without the tool, would only have scored 2 stars.

1 out of 5 stars Come back Quicken 2002, all is forgiven!   March 2, 2004

This program is driving me mad. Someone at Microsoft obviously thinks they know what information I would like to see displayed, better than I do. It's full of fancy features, and lots of links to the internet, but when it comes to the simple things, the program falls flat on it's face. Maybe I've been using Quicken too long, and just can't get used to the new design. On the otherhand, the layout in Quicken was completely customized to my likeing. Something I have struggled (and failed) to do with Money 2004. I don't think I'm being too picky. All I want to do is put a basic graph of my net worth on the opening page. Something that I think should be a simple task.

Anyway, Bill Gates, you can stuff this rubbish. I've just un-installed it and gone back to Quicken 2002 deluxe. Anyone wanting to find out for themselves how bad it is can get hold of it cheap, just check out ebay where they will be able to find my copy for sale shortly.

1 out of 5 stars What a load of rubbish!   February 16, 2004

Bought this prog 2 weeks ago. Microsoft UK support very poor. Will not work automatically with any of the main banks as they will not authorise it.Will not work with microsoft's own passport. It took 4 phone calls before they admitted that they have problems with it. Maybe in a few years Microsoft will have ironed out some of the bugs, but I doubt it if the UK support team are anything to go by. I think I may go back to writing things on the back of an envelope as it is more efficient and less time consuming. I thought with having 5 bank accounts and numerous savings that I was going to get a product that would actually help me. This so far, has been a disaster
