    Amazon.co.uk Review
Like the 10 editions that preceded it, Money 2003 offers powerful personal finance management for home users. This edition includes all of the features that made previous editions invaluable to those trying to get a handle on their finances. Money 2003 offers account management, budgeting, planning and spending reports and a lot more. These features form the backbone of the book and have been improved over the last several years. There's little more Microsoft can do to improve these core features.

In recent editions, Microsoft has increased integration with Internet features, linking to MSN Money. The increased dependency on signing into MS Passport continues to baffle users, as the updates it provides can be handled without signing into Passport. In this edition the reliance is even greater: when loading Money Express (the Money-lite) reminder system, it presents a sign-in window when Internet access isn't required, thus slowing down use.

Users upgrading from a previous edition will find very little to write home about apart from some user-interface and report tweaks, a more customisable and detailed homepage, background connection to your banks and more links to MSN Money and FTyourmoney.com. There's a small performance improvement over 2002: users of the Financial Suite edition ( Money 2003 Financial Suite) get improved investing tools for research and portfolio management and Quicken users will as usual find that there is a converter wizard should they want to transfer their Quicken data.

As with all personal finance management products, the benefit users get from this will be determined by the effort they put in. Money 2003 is a high-quality personal finance package that with regular use proves extremely beneficial. --Colin Neal

    5 out of 5 stars EXTENDED USER TRIAL - A SUCCESS!   March 17, 2008
I have been using Money in its various versions for around 10 years. I upgraded to this version when it first appeared and am still very happy with it.

As a general rule, you get out of MS Money what you are prepared to put into it. So, populating the database with all your financial affairs is going to take a little bit of time. However, providing you back-up regularly (and I back up every time I use it!)you'll only have to do it once.

It is now plugged in to all my online banking, has had plenty of time to adjust to my spending patterns in terms of budgeting and has become an utterly indispensible financial tool.

    5 out of 5 stars My accountant !   April 15, 2004

I have been using this product for almost 5 years and I am much more then just happy. It has been my real accountant. I always upgrade and feed all my financial information into it regularly. This product (altough such online services not yet available out of UK) still serves much more then you pay for it. Always looking forward to upgrading to higher volumes.

1 out of 5 stars Problems downloading statements   July 25, 2003

I have used Microsoft Money before and found that downloading my Woolwich bank statements made budgeting so much easier. So after buying a new computer with XP, I thought I would also invest in a new Microsoft Money 2003 and start getting organised again. Unfortunatly according to The Woolwich help desk "Microsoft Money 2003 doesn't work with 'The Woolwich' anymore", unhelpfully there is no way of knowing this until you've taken it out of the box and tried to used it, so I have wasted my money.

This is brilliant piece of software for controlling your finances. If you need to get organised then get this one! Myself, I am used to Money 97 and that used to it that this one is a bit hard to get into, but its excellent, it provides graphs, charts, (ok the last one did) but this does it in a new way and gives you forecasts and spending habbits - 10/10. Im still using 97 and now this, I prefer the old one, but then again im used to it. For those who havnt used MS Money before - use this one!

4 out of 5 stars Takes some setting up   February 12, 2003

If you have 1 bank account, no shares, no savings, no pensions and no assets then setting up Money 2003 (M2003) is a doddle. However this is not the case for most people, so be prepared to spend sometime setting it up, and this is the proof, once these things are set up managing all your accounts is a doddle and tracking your finances couldn't be easier.

The ability to download statements from your bank is welcome, though you need to spend time deciphering the bank codes and references to something more readable.

The will creator is also a welcome addition, allowing the normal Jo to sort out there estate should the worst happen.

The reporting facilities seem endless and the options to control every aspect of your finances, with online updates and web sites information, it can be as complicated or simple as you like.

    Overall a very recommended buy.
