Brilliant... but overpriced. August 12, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The subject says it all.
This is a fantastic product, but the full boxed version only costs 20 euros (about 14) in Germany, and 15 here in Switzerland.
To have to pay 10 more than this, just for the UK Upgrade version is a rip-off...
Good product ruined March 12, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have been a keen user of Paint Shop Pro since version 5 and have used it for a wide variety of photo and web design projects. Something dreadful has happened with this latest version. It is full of bugs, especially when using layers and vector graphics. After the fifth time of having alot of work wasted when the program crashed I have now given up and will probably and reluctantly have to move to PhotoShop. Paint Shop Pro used to be an excellent product, but now appears to have been ruined.
Dodgy print quality May 17, 2006 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I have used PSP since version 7, and never had any problems, so I upgraded from V.8 to X. It is still very capable (Smart Photo Fix is amazing) and the new learning centre is useful. Corel have made the interface more attractive than Jasc.
However, when it comes to printing within PSPX, things go downhill rapidly. The software seems to resize the photos to the size of a postage stamp on the preview screen if you select "Print" from the tool bar. You have to select File>Print Layout to get it to work. And the interpretation of the colours is very inaccurate. A picture which is perfect on screen comes out of my printer (Epson R300)very dark and gloomy. My monitor callibration is fine because other software (including my old PSP8) prints perfectly. I have to edit with PSPX, and then print from another program. Unfortunatly, this means I really can't reccommend this upgrade.
Worthwhile upgrade December 19, 2005 33 out of 33 found this review helpful
I've used Paint Shop Pro since version 5. It has always had powerful features but hasn't always been the easiest to get to grips with. I upgraded from version 9. A lot of worthwhile improvements to make it a lot easier to use. Particularly nice is the fact you can browse your photos in a window at the bottom; each tool now has a tutorial that helps you along. The makeup tools are good fun...whiten teeth, remove wrinkles and blemishes and apply a suntan......Worth the money
Capable, but very different from PSP7! Nikon issues. December 16, 2005 20 out of 25 found this review helpful
If you're a Nikon digital camera user, i suggest you steer clear of this package for now. There is a bug where many JPEGs produced by nikon software (and some Nikon cameras) crash the program when you save any changes, so you lose all the changes you made. A fix is in the pipeline i'm told, and there is a workaround (use export>jpeg optimiser) but i always reach for the save button without thinking leading to much frustration! :(Otherwise, i have been impressed by the programs capabilities, but it is hard to pick up when you're used to PSP 7, the interface is quite different. Commands are laid out within menus by a different way of approaching things it seems. It is quite slow to start up. I get the feeling that the program is aimed at people new to digital photography, which seems a shame considering its capabilities. Importing raw files (NEF) from my D70 produces an image with colours that look nothing like the original image as seen on the camera or that seen in Nikon software. Therefore i do not use the raw functionality at all.
