4 out of 5 stars A good all-in-one media manager to make the most out of your PSP   August 22, 2008
The thing that makes Sony PSP Media Manager Pro 2.5 stand out from other similar software is the fact that everything you need to make the most out of your PSP is all together in one easy to use package, enabling you to easily convert and transfer video, music and photos to your PSP using the drag and drop feature. Ripping and transferring Music is very easy to do, with the integrated Gracenote MusicID Service Lookup to identify music track names. The ability to easily backup your PSP game saves to your PC, and download podcasts straight to your PSP are also welcome features.

Video conversion on PSP Media Manager Pro is extremely easy to use - You simply choose between Low, Medium and High quality settings. The conversion of a typical 700mb AVI video file takes around 20 minutes to convert to MP4 (Which is needed to play on the PSP) using the highest quality setting (Tested on Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.4GHz and 4GB RAM). Other software I have used takes about 1 hour to convert the same file. The software Automatically detects the best resolution and aspect ratio to fit the PSP which works flawlessly and works better than all other PSP video converters I have tested.

Now, my only complaint with this software is that one or two video files fail to show up or convert correctly. Also, this software would be far better if it included advanced movie conversion features, i.e. the ability to independently choose the quality of the video stream and audio stream, and an option to boost the volume because on some of my converted movies, the audio is fine for quiet environments, but not loud enough for aircraft travel, even when using AKG Noise-reduction headphones.

Sony PSP Media Manager Pro 2.5 works fine with PC's running 32bit and 64bit Windows Vista. You will need to purchase a USB cable to use this software if you don't have one already.

Overall, If you're looking for a cheap and easy to use PSP media manager that includes everything to help you utilize and enjoy all of the PSP's features then I recommend this software.

4 out of 5 stars Does What it Says   August 22, 2008
An unusual item I think, but a clever idea. It does exactly what it is supposed to do, and it does it well and in a fairly straightforward manner. This is not software you would buy because it looks good, but because it does what you want it to do. If that is what you want, buy it.

3 out of 5 stars OK but most people would not need it   August 22, 2008
Having set this programme up on my PC I was expecting great things, however, whilst it does transfer audio and photographs to the PSP, the real value is the transfer of MPEG files. The difficulty is that you have to convert them to that format in the first place or place home video onto the machine.

Providing that you have software to convert either TV programmes or DVD to MPEG, it is a useful product, but don't be decieved, you need to ensure that the file is converted first.

1 out of 5 stars Very disappointing   August 20, 2008
I've been looking for a media manager for my PSP for some time but had heard that some third party efforts are temperamental at best - I trusted this one from Sony would be different..... I was wrong. The programme freezes all the time which soon gets frustrating and is surprisingly limited in what it can do. Yes it can convert music and video among other things but what it can't do is perform a proper search in your computer for files, so if it's not located in My Music or My Videos it won't be picked up by the media manager. It also has trouble picking up some media types, including some WMV files which it should have no problems with. It's not an overly complex piece of software and has simple menus but this is still a huge disappointment what with its noticeable and often frustrating limitations.

4 out of 5 stars A simple way to convert various files for use on the PSP.   August 19, 2008
This program is simple to install and even easier to use. I have no patience when it comes to computers and if I can't learn something in five minutes I get very frustrated. Thankfully this is a breeze to use and will convert your music and video files to use on your PSP in no time at all. I found it far easier to use a memory card reader to transfer files rather than connecting the PSP to the computer. The only downside is that now I've converted loads of stuff I need a bigger memory card and the 8 GB ones aren't cheap!!
