Amazon.co.uk Review This timeless Dr. Seuss classic was first published in 1960, and has been delighting readers ever since. Sam-I-Am is as persistent as a telemarketer, changing as many variables as possible in the hopes of convincing the nameless sceptic that green eggs and ham are a delicacy to be savoured. He tries every manner of presentation with this nouvelle cuisine--in a house, with a mouse, in a box, with a fox, with a goat, on a boat--to no avail. Then finally, finally the doubter caves in under the tremendous pressure exerted by the tireless Sam-I-Am. And guess what? Well, you probably know what happens, but even after reading Green Eggs and Ham for the thousandth time, the climactic realization that green eggs and ham are "so good, so good, you see" is still a rush. As usual, kids will love Dr. Seuss's wacky rhymes and whimsical illustrations--and this time, they might even be so moved as to finally take a taste of their broccoli. (Ages 4 to 8)

My first book December 23, 2009 Denise Ramsden (Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK) This was the first book that was truly mine when a child so when I had a chance to share the magic of reading it had to be this book.
Very nice little poeme November 30, 2009 S. Marinelli (Roma, Italia) Your son doesn't eat so much?? You can try with this funny book!! It's very instructive and funny.
there are many repeated phrases but this is so nice for kids!!
I am italian and I bought this book for my 3 years old son, I also have it in italian but sometimes I like read it in original language...
Dr Seuss Rocks! August 4, 2009 cosmicsunshine (England) My grandson really loves books and we just got his first Dr Seuss books. They may be old fashioned in some ways, but he loves them! This seems like quite a negative story until the end when it all turns out OK and the rhyming is great!
I would I could Sam I am May 25, 2009 Kerry Johns (Hampstead, London, UK) Yes with a goat and yes with a boat. I used to be able to recite the book cover to cover, but I had to buy a new copy for my own young readers. The illustrations and the convoluted rhyme schemes beld into something very special indeed. Playing a version of Desert Island Discs with the children to choose their favourite books to take with them to a desert island, this book beat The Cat in the Hat hands down to be the total favourte Dr Seuss in this house. It has become as much a part of our bedtime and drive time repertoire as the Christopher Robin poems.
Family fun and first reading April 3, 2009 D. Minett (Brazil) We were given this book by an American father of similar aged kids. We initially thought he was trying to indoctrinate us into American English, but this book doesn't. It's of universal interest, and I mean universal: it is fun and teaches everyone (not just kids) not to close their minds to even the most outrageous ideas. My kids don't speak English as a first language, but my daughter took this book and without prompting started to read it.
It teaches kids to speak and think by repeating words, rearranging the order (so they can't easily recite it parrot fashion, but have to look at the subtle variations). Teaches grammar (prepositions/word order/questions etc). And it makes everyone laugh. Hence it brings us together as a family. That's why I say it's of UNIVERSAL interest.
