    2 out of 5 stars Disappointing   May 10, 2008
The graphics are good, the concept is good but the control method on PC is dreadful, for some reason Harry is onscreen anywhere apart from where you want him and he can be facing any direction so when you press the control keys you get unexpected movements, I wish they had made it classic 3rd person control so he is always facing forward, at least that way when you press the forward key he would go forward, add to that the fact that Ron and Hermione are with him 90% of the time and keep getting in the way which makes this game really frustrating. It is good that you can explore Hogwarts as much as you want but it would be better if you could use the map to jump to locations instead of having to run everywhere with the awful control system, you seem to have to cover a lot of the same ground which can get a tad boring, I have completed 40% of the tasks and have given it a rest, I may go back to it at some point but for now it has not gripped me at all and to be honest it doesn't make you want to keep going, I couldn't care less if Harry gets Dumbledore's Army together or not.

4 out of 5 stars A fun game, but to short   February 25, 2008
This is an entertaining game which can take a while to complete is you try to complerte every task. However you can complete the storyline withing a few hours. If you set it to easy and don't use the sixazis you can do it only one day if you play realy hard. The spell movement is new and inovitive. It is a good new idea so you can now use all spells at once. This is a bih improvement on HP 4 which, lets face it was abbysmal. The platform style is geat and works well in the Harry Potter format.

Buy the game and have a great time, just don't expect to be able tos pend a month completing it.

4 out of 5 stars This fan liked it   September 11, 2007

I bought this product as a Harry Potter fan rather than a video game fan, and my experience with video games is rather limited. Nevertheless, I found the game extremely enjoyable - I liked the continuous storyline which tied into the story told by the book and film, I liked that the game included details from the books which the film hadn't bothered with - I especially liked the detail that had gone into creating Hogwarts castle, which really is wonderful, and possibly worth buying the game for alone.

I felt that the main problem was the pacing of the storyline. I wish I hadn't bothered continuing with the game after two-thirds of the way through, as the rest of it are either scenes from the film transformed into video game graphics or mini-quests which aren't much fun to play. I "fought Voldemort"; I "played as the twins"; I "duelled as Sirius" - but really, these experiences were so boring that I wish the creators hadn't bothered. Similarly, the Grimmauld Place section was almost entirely unnecessary to the game.

I enjoyed playing it and there were a number of suitably challenging mini-quests to keep me absorbed (I wanted to murder Luna by the time I finished with her challenge!), so that players of all ages should get something out of it. Perhaps it's enjoyable only really to Harry Potter fans, but I can't imagine many people buying it who hadn't already read the books or seen the films. Four stars - I enjoyed it and I'd consider playing it again on a rainy afternoon, but non-fans (and video game connoisseurs!) might feel differently.

    5 out of 5 stars Super!!   August 21, 2007

Althought this game is a little expensive, I think that it is the best game so far, unlike in Game 4 you are perfectly able to wonder around the grounds and you can find yuor way round easily with the Marouders Map.

At some points the game can be a little tricky, For example when looking for the POtions book for snape it says look in the library but the restricted section is not counted, the book is hidden in a dark corner which makes it even more difficult to find.

I loved the game and can't wait for the next one.

    It is really worth trying
