 Waste of time and money April 23, 2008

I purchased this this week. After an hour of installing the software, it then completely refused to load. Another hour to tech support with them doing the usual "uninstall and reinstall" rubbish, it still wouldnt work. Tried the hardward on other programs, which refused to recognise it at all, and constantly crashed the system. Eventually took it back and got a Kworld 20 capture device which worked perfectly. Dont waste your time on this expensive rubbish.

Let's get things straight - a video capture device is meant to show up as such on Windows. Instead Pinnacle have decided to hide their device so you can only use it with their overpriced, under featured, bug ridden, feature lacking, spyware toting software. If you want to use adobe premiere or even VLC then this product just does not cut it.
This device is an upsell posing as a solution. Don't bother unless you like returning junk or arguing with support staff who know nothing about their own product.
There are likely third party drivers out there that can fix the issue - but I for one don't understand why I need to search the net to make this hardware work the way every other company's capture system works. Indeed to work AS REQUIRED BY THE WHQL STANDARD - which is the minimum we should expect. If you need a USB device then there is no other option; if you can fit a PCI card then buy a proper capture card such as a cheap OSPREY. At least Osprey know something about video capture.
The Dazzle in the name means 'We Dazzle you with how much we suck'

I brought a Pinnacle Callisto Capture card, which is internal PC card, I never got it to work with Windows 98, Windows ME, 2000 or XP home or proSP2. Pinnacle is now part of AVID, as in broadcast kit, and although I have asked several times over the years, and although several people have said they had got one working, nobody yet has been able to supply the drivers so my piece of kit, that cost over 300 - to work. I suspect other products of the same make might have similar "customer support".

Purchased the Creator some time ago when running windows 98, but it failed to work despite help from my son who is a computer expert. Put away in cupboard for several years. Changed to Laptop PC with XP Windows. Tried to install again as I have many tapes that I wish to transfer to DVD. To my amazement it loaded correctly and I am now able to capture from my analogue camcorder. My only problem is that I can't seem to save to DVD's. If anybody can help I would be grateful, as mentioned in other reviews their is no hard copy of instructions to refer to easily.

Unreal. It`s like going back 15 years when it was generally accepted that badly writted glitch infected sotware was the norm & we all just had to grin and bear it. I can`t quite believe that Pinnacle are still punting out rubbish like this and getting away with it. Don`t touch this or any other of their dreadful products with a barge pole.
