    1 out of 5 stars Memories.   September 2, 2008

This game reminds me of when I used to play it with my eight year old son who invented words in order to use up his letters. Your virtual opponent, even if a novice, always has enough letters to make sizeable words, half of which do not appear in any dictionary. It is even happy to place words parallell to others thus creating two or three random two letter words. My exasperation threshold was reached after two games!
    Don't waste your money!

    2 out of 5 stars Disappointing   April 22, 2008

It's kind of fun, but it's annoying at the same time:

    1) Interface feels really sluggish. You click on a button and it pauses for half a second before making a sound and doing what it's supposed to do.

    2) You can't set a default difficulty level, but have to scroll through a list of "personalities" every game. But they don't do anything interesting with the personalities idea - it just serves to make selecting a difficulty level harder.

    3) It chops off the bottom of the screen if running in widescreen, as most laptops and many desktops run in these days.

    4) It crashes very often - maybe 1 game in 8 (running XP), in the middle of a game

I could live with all of these except the crashing. Just feels like the development was rushed.

Unlike what some other reviews said, it is possible to shuffle your tiles, and you can spell words out on the area on the side of the board. It is a bit annoying though not being able do this directly on the rack.

2 out of 5 stars OK but sooooooooooo slow   March 24, 2008
It is what it says on the tin... i.e. Scrabble.
On the plus side, it's got a few fun options, like being able to play against opponents of various strengths.
On the minus side, it is very slow (at least on my machine which is quite high spec.)
Many of the 'improvements' are rather gimmicky. I have turned off the soundtrack and I don't particularly need different coloured boards.
On the whole, it's not bad but if only you didn't have to hang around so much.
(Playing a timed 'rated' game is a complete farce because the computer only takes three seconds to play the entire game!)

    1 out of 5 stars Scrabble Interactive 2005 Edition   March 16, 2008

Rubbish - just purchased this game to run on XP, will not work contacted the company and I need to purchase a further piece of graphics software for it to run. It does mention this on the back of the CD under 'System Requirements' - but not until you purchase the game!!

1 out of 5 stars Absolute waste of money - Rubbish!   January 4, 2008

The makers/programmers of this 2005 version really need to take a reality check. We don't need fancy boards which don't even lie in an even plane. We don't need 'clever' computers which will not let you win, and cheat by using more letters than available in a 'standard' board game. It won't let you play your mates on a one-to-one basis. It won't allow you to shuffle your tile rack - I could bore you with my wingeing for hours.
Before bringing out yet more rubbish, I suggest the makers take a good look at the original Spears game that could be played on Windows 95 & 98. It may be old fashioned, but it worked, and provided years of fun. I do not want 'interactive' whatever that means, and I do not want music.
Just do everyone a favour, and reproduce the original (Windows 95/98) game in a format suitable for XP and Vista.
Until that day, Ubisoft will not have another penny of my money, and I will spread the word!
