Quicken 2004 XG

This a very retrograde step by Intuit; I have investigated Microsoft Money which is different, being better at some things, but worse in others.

Perhaps we should all back Bill Gates, and Microsoft, a little more.

I wonder if Amazon will see a large increase in sales of Money?

Companies like Intuit don't deserve us buying their products.

I have been using the Quicken range for I don't know how many years and apart from the odd glitch have been very satisfied. I got mail this morning that they are ceasing to supply Quicken from now on. So I have to face the thought that I have to transfer some 10 years of data to Money! I can hardly believe it.

Whatever you do don't now start to use Quicken.

Have been using this product now for six months without much problem. Some of the issues I had, with previous versions, in entering dividend payments have been addressed. Updates have worked fine. Have had no technical problems.

Some minor wrinkles in trying to enter Nat Saving Certs, as the Help does not match what you see on screen and the savings summary seems to give strange figures.

Overall though a very good package

Although this product gets alot of bad press I am here to defend it, I have alot of experience in Quicken and find it by far the easiest to use for all purpose.

From Investing, downloading bank statements, running my business I find this product far excels Intuits previous version. Although the VAT tracker has been changed since the 2000 version and is not as straight forward at first, once you are used to it, it does work.

If your looking for a product that will allow you to manage your money whilst budgeting for the future you can't go wrong with Quicken XG04.

A Word on the Technical support; Slow but dedcated on average about 5 mins to get through to the technical support and you only have 30 days after which you will need to purchase an annual support plan for 54

The software seems to be buggy starting from installation, online updates do not work correctly and help is not worth the effort of even bothering with. Support is where the joke really starts, try to get phone support and you will be faced with the good old "we are experiencing very high call volumes" on hold message (This was constant over a period of months trying to get support for a simple question).
They claim to offer support with msn messenger, this is rarely answered, and when it is you will be lucky to chat with someone who can string a sentance together. I have tried on numerous occasions to get support like this, only to be left wondering if there is actually anyone receiving the messages.
As another reviewer said, have a look on google and you will find all the other complaints about this badly made, badly supported product.
