I bought this hard drive to upgrade my existing system...it was childsplay to install and I am delighted with the product...so much so that I will not hesitate to recommend it to any other potential buyer!

I purchased the Generic disk drive 250GB to use in a DVR CCTV monitor which is used 24/7 non stop, this hard drive copes with it well,also I have one in my PC as a second hard drive, which I had at a earlier date, very pleased with it.

Bought through Amazon but supplied by Envizage Solutions.
This delicate item was very well packed. First in an antistatic envelope, then cosseted in foam before being enclosed in a well fitted strong cardboard box - well done the supplier.
So why only three stars - after all it works perfectly well. That's because it comes with poor instructions and no fitting screws or brackets whatever. If you are replacing the existing hard drive then all well and good but if you want it as an additional hard drive, as I did, then that's when you need at least four screws and ideally some kind of universal bracket. If you have the knowledge and the bits then for you it's five stars but otherwise you might struggle.
An example is that having obtained some screws and made a somewhat Heath-Robinson affair of fitting the drive, it was not recognised by the computer. The instructions say "Enter the BIOS set up and go to the Hard Drive Definition Menu". I'm not an IT person and I couldn't find this but nowhere in the instructions for this ATA drive (also known as IDE) did it say to partition and format it. I found this out in desperation having Googled the problem. Once that was resolved all was well.
So, there you have the problem that I encountered - as to whether it's three stars or five stars for you really depends on your knowledge of these problems.

I bought this through Amerzon and Im only writing this because there was no other review made. Amazed on easy it was to fit. It was to replace a damaged Hard Drive 160GB. New 250GB was fitted in less than 10 mins plus to reinstal Windows. Very happy with Amerzon.
