I have been using System Mechanic 6 for over a year and have found it easy to install & use. I had Registry Mechanic before, but this all-in-one does what it says on the tin. It runs faultlessly with all my other programs and keeps my PC in tip-top shape. It can seem a bit over-zealous at times with some advice, but in general it is fantastic. I can't believe anyone who has installed it correctly can slag it off - it's worth its weight in gold.

After a `XP Home' catastrophic computer problem, I became more aware of the need to maintenance on my computer beyond that offered within XP itself.
A person recommended this to me and I have found it makes a BIG positive difference to my computer. I would humbly recommend that you select the undo option before commencing with this. But I can say its safe on my system based on a run of 5 weeks. The suite does impact my system by its size and it can be seems a bit fussy-nagging even- on its definition of `needed critical repairs'.
The need to maintain and use this suite of utilities is around twice a week. Speaking for myself, I have found this 100 % useful and safe and cheaper those comparable products such as 'Norton Utilities'.

I have previously used System Mechanic 4 on my computer and found that it was efficient and trouble free.
However, needing to upgrade I decided to choose System Mechanic 6. Having read some of the reviews on this site I was somewhat apprehensive about upgrading.
All I can say, is what an absolute waste of money. Firstly, the data would not load properly. I find that the computer works worse now than it has ever done. To compound matters, I am unable to uninstall the programme. Half the System Mechanic 6 functions freeze.
I can honestly say, if you are looking to upgrade or buy this product, do yourself a favour and look elsewhere.
System Mechanic 6 is a whole lot of trouble.

After installing and using System Mechanic 6 for the first time a number of problems arose IMMEDIATELY which were not able to be undone by the System Mechanic undo facility.
I could no longer view asp webpages on my local network (IIS probably now corrupted)
Adobe Photoshop problems (my monitor colour management profile file also corrupted)
Unable to uninstall a number of programs due to System Mechanic having removed required uninstall .dat files.
These are only the problems found so far, so I don't know how many more there are.
Iolo are of the belief that these problems were not caused by their software despite them becoming obvious IMMEDIATELY AFTER RUNNING THEIR SOFTWARE.
I will be taking my computer to a PC engineer next week to have the hard drive completely wiped and have a clean XP installation.
I paid less than 20 for System Mechanic, it's now going to cost me considerably more than that to get my PC put right.
Learn by my mistake !

I'm an old hand when it comes to System Mechanic. For the past Two Years System Mechanic 5 has protected, repaired and cleaned my PCs to perfection! I was reluctant to upgrade to 6 believing the new programme would not be as good. But they have surpassed my expectations yet again!
The Programme strengths lie in its superb registry cleaner, junk file remover, internet cleanup / privacy tool, file Incinerator (which deletes sensitive files to government and military standards!) and last but not least its excellent Spython anti-spyware programme (that's got me out of trouble on numerous occasions). My only quibbles are with the new interface which is too busy and which locks up on occasion and the programme update which has to be done manually (although the Spython automatically updates when the programme is run) also make sure your connected to the internet before you load the programme for the first time otherwise it will not update correctly (you will knows when its right when a progress bar appears and loads new definitions before asking you to input user ID and serial number). I find the basic programme superb for my needs but you will also need an antivirus programme as well unless you upgrade to System Mechanic professional. For those who have used System Mechanic 5 there are new features such as system information, security fixes and deeper cleaning functions.
All in all System Mechanic represents great value for money with all the utilities you could ever need. Where as other software providers would charge you a fortune for one utility you get a massive bundle with System Mechanic 6!!!
