Good basic education October 13, 2003 M Cassar (England) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have really enjoyed working through this cd rom, but although I have found it helpful it is a little basic and I am desperate to go up another level to the intermediate stage. Unfortuantely there doesn't seem to be one available, please sort this out.

I thought it would be fun to learn some Maltese as the company I work for has Maltese customers. Although I have really enjoyed this CD rom for basic pronunciation and words, I now need to know more and it seems from these reviews that other people agree. Although I am still enjoying this CD, there is no way I will ever be able to string a sentance together (unless I need to ask my customers where my baggage is!) So come on give us something else to learn.
Great.....for beginners March 31, 2003 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
Being half maltese, i know very limited maltese. This CD-ROM has been the most helpful way to learn very basic maltese for me. Learning to speak maltese is a complete pain, theres more letters than the english alphabet and lots of letter have different sounds. This is great for the beginner, a male and female voice both tell you how to pronounce words/phrases, then u can record your own voice and compare yourself, a very unique way of learning a language. Because maltese is so difficult to read/write, its hard to just be given a list of words to read without previous knowledge of how to say them correctly. In my personal opinion, i think this cd-rom is great, you just pop it in ya cd drive and off it goes, no installing or anything. Its the only cd-rom to learn maltese around, but i think more advanced level is needed, with more "everyday" phrases and words as opposed to "tourist" words... I dont think theres any way u can be disappointed by this and im glad i managed to get a copy...but like i said, there should be more versions with more than basic language...i dont understand how anyone is supposed to have a conversation with this, its virtually impossible...but for basic language its verrrry good! and i was well impressed...i wouldnt worry if u were going to malta, english is more-or-less the first language over there anyway and i dont think u'd have many problems with language barriers... I think the best way for someone in my position to learn maltese, would be for me to go over there and learn it where its used...it would be too hard to remember everything as you dont excercise it everyday... But on the whole, its great...for beginners...

Talk Now! Learn Maltese - hardly November 14, 2002 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
I inserted the cd and up pops the program straight into the word games, no explanation of the Maltese language nothing - on my forth word "Good Evening" i couldn't even follow the pronunciation never mind anything else. If i had wanted to learn parrot fashion without understanding what i'm really saying then it'd be perfect - but for me - no.Now looking for something to really teach me maltese.
