MS Office 2007 July 11, 2010 rag to riches The software works fine - just wish I did not need to purchase it because windows 7 no longer supports Outlook 2000.
Microsoft office 2007 - welcome to hell April 29, 2010 S. D. Infield 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Ah improvements; aren't they great? Lets take 3 steps back each time to go forward; all in the name of efficiency, of course. I would love to smear cow dung over every executive (for executive read `TIME + MONEY BANDIT') that just thinks they can smash into your life in the name of progress and demand you "keep up, you trailing so and so...and we don't give a flying **** if you are busy; we'll make you not busy by shutting you down (or not supporting the product as they so eloquently call it etc)". Time and money bandits the lot of them; God I'd love to **** up their scrawny lives. Where else do we just allow people we have never met before to sell us products that are full of 'viruses' and cost money + time; where they make us put right THEIR INADEQUACIES?? They constantly demand my time like protection racketeers appearing on my doorstep. Anyone else who sold products in this way would be shot. So why do computer people think it is OK to sell products (IE computers) that are liable to breakdown or be attacked at any moment? Would you buy a car that constantly broke down without any warning?.... So, learning this new Office suite; who had the `genius' stupid idea to 'hide' the print option in the crummy logo in the top left?? Who the hell would EVER think of looking there? Eh HELLO? ARE YOU ON THIS PLANET???? Also, With my Office 2000, I could open several Outlooks windows at the same time - e.g Calendar, Contacts, Inbox, Sent emails - great; I used to be able to switch between them - really handy. Well, with Office 2007, I've had to kiss that goodbye... all in the name of 'progress', you understand... Total PAIN in the ****. Also, it would be nice to have 'cut + copy' buttons...yes, you guessed it..it would be nice, as I said...but they don't seem to care about such basics... so goodbye cut + copy buttons, it was nice knowing you...So NOW I have to very carefully hover my pointer over the exact place and right click - trust me, sad reader (... if you ain't sad now... you will be, once you have bought Office 2007...), it ain't nearly so easy now...(geniuses again? Yes, geniuses again ****ing things up as usual) Also, being a bit of a thicko, I like to have things in nice pretty colours so they stand out... well they ain't going to do that now, as the colour palates are expertly dulled (those geniuses have been at it again)... there's loads more crap, but I'm bored of boring you. Good luck; I'm off for a headectomy
A worthwhile upgrade November 18, 2009 John Nunn (Coventry, U.K.) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Office 2007 is a great update to one of the world's greatest office productivity suites, the changes to the User Interface do take a little getting used to but once you are familiar with the ribbon interface, you will find you become more productive. This suite is the small business version of this great suite of products and includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher all of these applications have received a significant make over in this version and all benefit from it.
If you also use Microsoft SharePoint then the level of integration has been significantly increased, providing a much greater degree of collaboration.

I used Home and Student edition and needed to upgrade to ensure that I was not exceeding the non-commercial limitation of that edition. I chose not to use the freeware Sun systems promoted Office suite, although have used it in the past, as I wished for direct compatibility with client software without issues. I already had Outlook, which is also part of the upgrade suite.
The upgrade was not cheap, and the installation, which appeared simple, tends to fool you into a false sense of expectation that all is well as there is no guidance as to what to do. I contacted MS first by e-mail (waited several days for a response - part my fault as access in evenings at the time was not always possible)to ensure that I was to obtain the correct upgrade, which was confirmed. I then, as I still kept getting the "non-comm" note at the head re-contacted MS, this time by phone (hey! and thats a pain!...multiples of dead end key options...best is just wait till the end..someone will answer anyway - check the call charge!) to find out what the issues was...the resolution is simple - just head for Options and activate.
This process all in all probably took a day of my time as I thought the issue was with Word only but I got it individually for each of the programmes...and, of course, at first they do not trust the caller to have a kosher copy.....mind numbing.....sorry Amazon I know you suggest inclusion of humour...but I couldn't find any.
All OK now...but all MS needed to do was include one slip of paper instead of the ad slips to advise the upgrade method for each option.
I know MS doesn't like Europe following the recent judgement - but no need to get at us individually.
..and another thing...what about W7 and the E option + greater cost for less product than US version!!...perhaps freeware ain't so bad afterall...hey Linux here we come

This upgrade installed easily over the previous version (2000) and is similar enough for a relatively short learning curve. Experience so far shows the GUI to be user-friendly and components greatly improved. However, this is an elaborate suite containing many features that will
never be used by me!
Good value.
