5 out of 5 stars Breaking Dawn   November 5, 2008
!Because so much happens in Breaking Dawn, this review man contain some major spoilers. Please don't read it if you plan or are currently reading a prequel to this book, this review would probably ruin it!

    - The Author -
Stephenie Meyer was born on the 24th of December, 1973. She is an american author who writes for both adults and teenagers. Born in Hartford, Connecticut, after graduating from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, Stephenie Meyer now lives with her husband who she met whilst growing up with her three sons.

    - About -
Breaking Dawn is the last book in the Twilight four book series(although there is a fifth book not yet released which is Twilight written in another characters perspective) written by american international bestseller, Stephenie Meyer. First published hardcover in August 2008, 1.3 million were sold in the first 24 hours of its release breaking the record. It continues the story of 17/18 year old Bella (Isabella) Swan who has moved to Forks, Washington, and has fallen in love with vampire, Edward Cullen. Breaking Dawn is split into three books, the first and last written in Bella's perspective, the 2nd in werewolf Jacob Black's perspective. It is the longest of all four twilight books at 758 pages. Although the first of the series Twilight, has been made in to a film, there have been no plans to make Breaking Dawn in to a film as it would be too hard. If you want to read Breaking Dawn, you must read the first three so you know what has been going on.

    - Storyline -
Bella has to become a vampire - and soon - or the Volturi will kill her. That has been made very clear.

The first story, which is written in Bella's point of view, is about Bella and Edward's marriage and honeymoon. Bella finally gets what she wanted which is for Edward to make love to her. But soon afterwards, Bella realizes she is pregnant, and calls Carlisle who tells them they must come home. Edward wants her to have an abortion but Bella refuses, and turns to Rosalie who supports her as she has always wanted a child.

The next part of the story is written in werewolf Jacob Black's point of view. This part of the story tells Bella's pregnancy and childbirth. When the pack (of werewolves) find out that Bella is pregnant, fearing the baby is going to be a vampire and "immortal child", they plan to destroy the baby, even if Bella dies too. But as Jacob loves her, he leaves the pack and instead helps protect the Cullens from the pack. Soon Seth and Leah Clearwater leave the pack too,and help protect the Cullens and Bella. Slowly, Bella becomes very weak. Her ribs start breaking and she loses a lot of blood. Carlisle fears for her life but when Jacob points out the obvious, Carlisle manages too fix the problem. Soon after, Bella manages to give birth to her daughter, Renesmee, a name which is a mix between both her mothers' and mother in laws' names'. But Jacob makes a shock discovery when he sets eyes on Renesmee..

The last part of the book goes back to Bella's perspective. Bella is finally a vampire and stronger than ever. However, the Volturi find out about Renesmee and like the werewolves fear Renesmee is an "immortal child". The Volturi plan to kill Renesmee. Meanwhile, Bella tries to get used to her life as a vampire, learning to hunt and resist herself when with humans such as her father, Charlie. When Alice has a vision of the Volturi coming to kill Renesmee as well as all of the Cullens, the Cullens prepare for a fight, gathering other covens for support. Bella discoversthat like Edward, Alice and Jasper, she has a power. Can the Cullens win against the Volturi, or will they all be destroyed?

    - Price -
Breaking Dawn can currently only be bought hardcover. Priced at RRP 12.99, as it is fairly new, it can't be found that cheaply, 8.99 is probably the cheapest I've seen it.

    - Critisism -
Unlike New Moon and Eclipse, Breaking Dawn got mostly very positive reviews. However, the odd few complained about the childbirth chapter and the final few chapters. However I don't think any of these things had a problem, I particulary liked the final few chapters. In my personal opinion though, the ending was to happy!!

    - Vercict -
I would very highly reccomend Breaking Dawn.

Near the end it all got a little too confusing but that was problem solved with an index at the back of the book!

Stephenie Meyer did a great job in tying up the myriad storylines from the whole sage. Now, she is able to write a (or a few) spinoffs as she has left the door open for one. The detail and talent Stephenie Meyer must have is huge! All four Twilight books were outstanding in the actual writing points.

Many critics have complained about the character of Bella. In alll four books, Bella has been portrayed as a weak girl who lives to serve men and suffer. She always has a man to save her. She is also shown as an incredibly selfish woman and she becomes annoyingly whiny, although when I think about it, she does seem very concerned about how her actions affect Edward, Jacob and the other characters. She does need to care more about herself though.

I can't find any real faults in the book and it is either this book of Twilight that is my favourite book I've eve read!

2 out of 5 stars this book   November 2, 2008
    well i was disappointed tbh.
i loved these books, and couldnt wait to read the last one. but i was really disapointed and so was my mum, who also read it. i thought that the baby was annoying, predictable and tbh i wanted somebody to eat it by accident coz at least then thered be some real emotional scenes. it was so predictable what was going to happen to jacob once the baby was born - leah would have been a much better person to imprint on. bella went all soppy and simply couldnt kill her precious (and mysteriously concicieved though nobody knows in detail why or exactly how) half vampire baby! edward was like a sloppy shadow, rosalie suddenly became ickily nice, esme & carlisle were the saving factors and emmett, jasper and alice (ie some of the best characters) were hardly in it! plus the book was so big and overwritten it was hard to read. ive always thougt her plots were too complicated in previous books, loved them, but they were almost like she was trying to outdo herself.
this book did not set any tone for the future, except a cheesy ending, and im really ashamed that such a great series of books ended this way.

BREAKING DAWN IS AMAZZING AND ANYONE WHO SAYS OTHERWISE WELLL.....I WILL SET THE VOLTURI ON THEM!
i would've never of guessed the plot. i sat in my room for 2 days only coming out or food. amazzing kept me hooked i couldn't sleep. i thought i would be sad when it ended but it gives you clousure and is amazzing. amazzingly written. more in love with edward than before [if that's even possible] it doesn't dumb it down just because we're younger than the adults it's a proper book, the plot has twists and turns that you'll never guess. IT'SMUCH BETTER THAN ANYTHING J.K.ROWLING COULD EVEN DREAM TO WRITE.
THE WHOLE TWILIGHT SERIES HAS CHANGED MY LIFE [FOR THE BETTER]

Ok, to write a review for this book would take me all day. So I will just stick with pro's and cons:

    Con's:
1)It made me scream 'WHAT THE HELL!' through out most of it.

    2) So many plot holes. I found myself falling in all of them, and not being able to get out.

3)Bella becomes full Mary Sue; it drives you nuts. If you love any of the other characters, forget it. It's all about Bella and her Mary Sueness now.

    4) Lots of sick things happen, things that make you wonder why it's aimed at young girls.

    5) Only Bella and Edward get a good ending. Jacob, and all the characters we love, are ruined in this book.

    6) It's written like bad fanfiction. In fact I have read better fanfiction than breaking dawn. It made me wonder if it was part of the Twilight series, although I did not think Esclipse or the end of New Moon were very good.

Pro's (I tried my best to think):

    1) if you like Jacob, you will like his part of the story. For me I found it the most ineresting. It was funny, and added a bit of depth to this pile of steaming rubbish of a story.

    ----------------------------

So as you can see the con's override the pro's here. It's not for everyone, although some people might like it. I just found it so lacking in any depth I could not get into it. Not like Twilight, where at least there was enough there to get me hooked. Breaking Dawn seems like it was rushed, then dumped on all of us. There is no big battles, or any of the characters going through development. It's just one thing after another. Flung at us so fast I need a shield! ( I kid you not).

I really thought Breaking Dawn was going to be something. I am sorry i wasted my time and money, you will be too if you waste money before reading it. You have been warned.

Before I even read this book, I read the reviews for it. I was shocked how everyone ripped it to shreds. Of course in those reviews were spoilers, spoilers that I couldn't believe. I kept thinking do I really want to read this book now! I loved Edward and the Cullen's. Bella irritated me a lot, but I still loved her with Edward. Jacob was never my favorite character, but he was needed to balance out the stories. I didn't want to read this book and ruin my whole view of these characters I've learned to love and hate all at the same time. I'd already bought the book though so I sucked it up and started reading...I couldn't put it down. I kept thinking who ever wrote those reviews obviously didn't read the book very carefully. I absolutely loved this book, and I'm glad I didn't listen to those reviewers. Sure there were flaws, but even book 7 of Harry Potter had flaws!
I decided to talk to some of my friends who were still reading or just finished the book. I asked what they thought, and all of them really loved the book also. I was curious by this and went back online to find more reviews on the book and came to a conclusion...you either love this book or you hate. There is no gray area inbetween. So my advise to anyone who wants to read this book and are unsure...read it and form your own opinion. Don't listen to any of the reviews good or bad.
