This is such an easy way to get Microsoft Office loaded onto your PC. It took a matter of minutes which I was thankfull about as am not a technically minded person!
Disappointing and cumbersome December 13, 2008 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I wish to add my own experience this product, having used MS office fairly extensively for over 15 years. I chose to upgrade only as a last resort. After initially downloading the 'Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats' (a free download from Microsoft well worth the time in locating) I bought this as a result of receiving files to work with that I had to return in the newer formats.
The menu system is vastly changed, cumbersome in terms of numbers of clicks required to perform actions and inefficient in space use. The ribbon puts a significant dent into the viewable working area, most noticeable when working with spreadsheets. Add to this a Vista-style burden on memory and resources coupled with new reasons to crash unexpectedly and the result is a version of Office that is slower to use, poorer visually yet no more functional except in terms of prettiness of outputs. Granted, this might add impact to occasional Powerpoint presentations, but it certainly doesn't help crunch numbers or write reports so much.
MS Office, with competitors in fierce competition, was almost forced to make some noticeable changes. In this respect only, it has succeeded with this version. If you value cosmetic effect over efficiency, then perhaps this is a product for you. For my part, I have now uninstalled Office 2007 and will be returning Office 2000 / 2003 for home / office use. I do and will continue to suggest people to use earlier versions or even alternative brands of office software until Microsoft make adjustments to Office that actually cater to the needs of their customer base.

Great product and does what it says on the tin - gives microsoft office suite of word, excel, powerpoint etc. Pity can only use it 3 times.
MS Office 2007 December 5, 2008 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
I have been debating whether to take advantage of the Amazon deal. Having read several reviews it is clear that paying less (compared with the price of Office 2003) won't get me more. MS appears to have lost sight of the old maxim KISS. On my home PC I will continue to use the final version of Lotus 123 and, where necessary to tie in with my part-time employer's software, Excel. I really would have liked to upgrade my home PC from Excel 97 to Excel 2003 but am tempted instead to spend my 'upgrade budget' on Dragon Dictate to enable me to productively wizz through text work rather than use Word's rather basic dictation facility.
still working on it December 2, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I totally agree with the reviewer that complained about the difficulty to get into the box. I too was foxed until I stopped trying to open it instinctively and had a concentrated thoughtful good look at the box. Whoever came up with the design... please, let others do the job. Packaging isn't meant to be a puzzle to be solved.
As for the software itself... hmmm... I have to admit I was a bit apprehensive after reading the divided opinions here and I guess my three stars indicate that I, too, am divided about it. Maybe once I have used it for a year or so, I might get the hang of it but as of now, I am still missing the old version and trying to work out the new.
I wouldn't say it's total rubbish, but not the bee's knees either!
